November 19/20

This was the last trial of the 2016 season.   That meant that the 2016 Silver Buckle Winners were going to be determined and get their awards.  We sure were glad the trial was in a covered arena because it actually rained part of both days.  This trial was held inconjunction with a set of PASA Obedience/Rally trials.  So, PASA was very busy.

PASA held its usual one ring event.    That left lots of room for crating and running dogs inside and staying away from the horses and obedience/rally folks.  Lora Del Page was our judge.

Trial committee was:
Chair(s): Tracy Lovelis (on site) Jean Danver (pre-show paperwork, web)
Grounds: Jean Danver
Awards: Warene Waters
Secretary: Dave Connet

September 13: Nationals Pre-trial & PASA at Nationals

PASA did their 6th agility trial of the 2016 season as a Pre-trial on the day after finals in Albany, Oregon.  PASA also hosted a huge conformation Pre-trial on Saturday of the first weekend.  This is not only a report of the agility Pre-trial, but also reports the accomplishments of PASA members accomplishments in whatever they did at Nationals.  If you are a PASA member and your accomplishments are not listed that means that you did not tell me what they were.  So, tell your webmaster  and they will be added.  I like pictures, too.

Doing a trial at Nationals is not quite our ordinary trial.  For one, we do not count it towards Silver Buckle standings, it is held on one day and there are three rings and three judges.  It was held outside in very dry grass at the Linn County Park in Albany, Oregon.  The weather was pretty much like home in California being cool in the morning and warning up to the low 80s by afternoon.  Also, we have about 5 times as many dogs running as a typical PASA trial and there were extra HIT awards. Sorry to say there was not an NQ raffle.  The check-in handout was pretty amazing.  We handed out a lunch bag that contained an assortment of goodies.

Are tireless judges were Sandra Katzen for the regular classes, Pamela Bryant-Meeks for the gamblers classes and Lora Del Page for the jumpers classes.  All rings offered two of each for Novice, Open and Elite.

  Trial committee was:
Chair: Tracy Lovelis and Nicole Watts
Awards: Warene Waters
Check-in Gifts: Mona Nichols (purchase & assembly)
Awards & gift transportation: Jenny Hutchinson
On site awards: Joe Delvey and Laurie Preston
Secretary: Dave Connet
Chief Course Builder(s): Scott Lovelis, Susan Laursen, Dave Grubel
Equipment: Scott Lovelis & Tracy Lovelis
Chief Ring Stewards: Maralise Howze, Barbara Hasey,  Lisa Buckner, Samantha Kirby
Judge on site Hospitality: Mona Nichols, Donna Highstreet
Chief scorekeeper(s): Marcia Hodes, Maggie Guthrie
Check-in: Marsha Nicoli
Judge transportation:  Nicole Watts
Web-master:  Jean Danver (so you know who to send corrections and omissions to)

There were at least two ATCH earners.  If you are not listed here, please contact me to get your name listed.

Kerry Levin's Jo-Z, earned ATCH-II

PASA had more than the usual High in Trial awards. Besides the usual, there were HIT awards for both ACE standard and senior, best dog over 10 years and best rescue dog.  It wasn't easy figuring all of that out.

High in Trial Winners were:

Ace :  Elaine Osmun's Kate

Novice: Carolina Bauer's Smitten

Elite: Erika Maurer's Cadence handled by Dave Grubel

PASA held its usual one ring event outside on grass.  One of the highlights was a great pot luck on Saturday night.  PASA provided chicken and utensils and everyone brought something really delicious.  Thank you to our judge, Susan Graham.  She always makes it fun for everyone and also makes us think a little bit.  Thank you to all the workers.

August 6/7 Silver Buckle standings
Note that all dogs with a Q are listed that have a mathematical possibility that they could win the Silver Buckle.   Their group may change if  they do not yet have regular Q.  Dogs will be dropped from the list if there is no possibility that they could win. There may be differences in HIT winners because the rules of which class a dog is in differs.  For Silver Buckle, dogs are in the group that corresponds to their first regular Q of the year and yps is the average of their regular runs for the year.  HIT group  is last regular entered of the trial and average yps of regular runs just for the trial.

May 28/29/30

This was the 4th agility trial of the 2016 season.    It was held at the Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland, CA.  There was lots of grass and good restrooms and big shade trees.

We had 3 days in the 90's,  but the root beer floats and popsicles helped! Thank you to our judge Pamela Bryant-Meeks who had fun and challenging courses. Thank you to all the workers that stepped up to help before, during and after the trial. You were all great to work with!
As an extra bonus, Jason Meeks flew in on Sunday and spent Monday visiting with everyone at the trial!
