February 26/27:
Thorson's Arena, Morgan Hill, CA
March 26/27: Anderson Farm, Livermore, CA
May 28/29/30: Anderson Farm, Livermore, CA
August 6/7: Manzanita Park, Prunedale,  CA
November 19/20 : Thorson's Arena, Morgan Hill, CA

November 19/20, 2022

This was PASA's last trial of the 2022 season and it was held at Thorson's arena near Morgan Hill CA.  We had a bit of rain the week before but the weather was sunny and somewhat cold - perfect for dogs.
PASA held its usual one ring event. The number of classes on Saturday and Sunday was six, two of each.    Mark Beuhl was our judge.  He managed to come all the way from Texas with just one 3 hour delay in Denver.   For some reason people had a lot of fun at this trial, even with a somewhat embarrassing mistake.  Not all the timing equipment arrived,  so we did things the old fashion way the first day.  Thank goodness Scott Lovelis had a stop watch.  Those of use doing timing learned how to use a whistle.  Gamblers was the most challenging to whistle.

Trial committee was:
Chair(s): Jean Danver (off site) and Tracy Lovelis (on site)
Judge gift, Silver buckle data entry, web page: Jean Danver
Awards: Warene Waters
Secretary & Chief Scorekeeper: David Connet
Chief Course Builder: Scott Lovelis
Chief Ring Steward: Helen Bauer
Equipment: Susan Laursen
Hospitality:  Mona Nichols
Equipment transportation: Jenny Hutchinson
NQ raffle: Lorie Preston
Judge transportation and hotel arrangements: Nicole Watts
Judge airport transportation and Sunday night lodging:  Jean Danver

There was a special event.   Nicole Watts retired her dog, Dervish, with a yummy cake and heart shaped dog treats.

There was only one ATCH earned at this trial. That was on Saturday.  Rick Anderson's dog, Kate, got her 6th ADCH. We had a little trouble with the sun taking the picture.

We awarded High in Trial.
The winners got a beautiful rosette with streamer ribbons and lots of praise.

High in Trial Winners were:
Novice:  Helen Bauer and her Standard Poodle, Penzey

Open: Sue Graham and her Aussie, Smitty
 Elite:
Sue Grisby and her Aussie, Jinks
Veteran: Susan Laursen and her Aussie, Oliver

Ace Overall: Diane Hudson and her labadore retriever, Roxi

The big deal of the weekend was the ending of the Silver Buckle series for 2022.  These dogs have been competing for at lease 2 and for the elite all five of PASA's trials. This year was made more exciting because a few of the leaders did not compete this weekend which left a wide up field of contenders to come from behind to take over the lead.   The final results were:

Novice Silver Buckle winner, Penzey, a Poodle owned by Helen Bauer; Veteran winner, Oliver, An Aussie Owned by Susan Laursen; Elite winner, Sage, an Aussie owned by Jean Danver;  Winner of winners, Kate, an Aussie owned by Rick Anderson; Open winner, Smitty, an Aussie owned by Sue Graham.
Not pictured: Ace-Overall winner; Charlie, an Aussie ownd by Linda Moss.

August 6/7, 2022

This was PASA's annual trial in Manzanita Park, over looking Moss Landing in Prunedale.  It was by far the largest trial for the number of dogs running since COVID.  There were over 350 runs on Saturday.   Someone said it was because all the COVID puppies were now old enough to start competing.  It was held on the large combined filed with lots of beautiful green grass with no sign of gophers.   Saturday night we had the annual Manzanita pot luck with lots of great food.  The food was enough for lunch the next day and yours truly ended up with left over salad to take home.   On Sunday, Rick Anderson brought some really fancy dog cookies to celebrate his dog, Calvin, becoming a vet.

PASA held a one ring event. The number of classes on Saturday and Sunday was six, two of each.    Michael Black was our judge.  He managed to come all the way from Texas, in spite of American Airlines. His late Sunday night flight was canceled and he was booked on an earlier flight.   We tried out best, but the jumpers runs on Sunday were still left to go when he had to leave.   Other club members , who were ASCA judges, stepped up to finish.   Thank goodness they were attending the trial.

As usually Mike's courses were flowy with challenge.  He was a lot of fun, as well.

May 28/29/30, 2022

PASA stayed in Livermore for this trial.  If you were worried about heat, it didn't happen.  The temperature was perfect and there was even a cooling breeze.   We beat March in proving that PASA was the best eating club around.  Besides the breakfast spread that included muffins from Susan Laursen and Togo's sandwiches for lunch, we had an amazing BBQ on Saturday evening for every one who wanted to attend.  Gina Campodonico smoked brisket and made corn on the cob on the grill.   There was rotisserie chicken, a big salad, baked beans and potato salad and some wonderful pies donated by club members.  Please forgive me if I left anyone out.  The food was enough for lunch the next two days.    What club can beat all that.

PASA held a one ring event. The number of classes on Saturday and Sunday was six and five on Monday.  This was a Regular bonanza.  Eight regulars in all - 2 Saturday, 4 Sunday and 2 on Monday.  Chuck Klein was our judge.  He came all the way from North Carolina.  He did an amazing job of course design that helped the day go faster while  providing quite a bit of challenge.

March 26/27, 2022

PASA moved up to Livermore for this trial.  As much as we wanted rain we were glad that it held up until after the trial.  The weather was perfect.   If you have not been to a PASA agility trial, this one was a perfect example to prove that we like to eat and party. It starts with the breakfast spread, where Susan Lausen opened up a container with the most delicious and healthy muffins ever. That was to go with the hard boiled eggs, bagels, oranges and bananas and condiments.   Saturday night Rick Anderson went to ??? and came back with several different kinds of yummy pizza.  Meanwhile, Jean Danver and Mona Nichols put together a huge salad made from lettuce and radishes from Jean's garden.  Somehow, a few bottles of beer showed up.    We had enough left over, along with the 1/2 Togo sandwiches not eaten the day before, to have a yummy left-over workers' lunch on Sunday.  For extra fun, Diana Lamb showed up on Sunday with a litter for puppies for us to play with.  And so did Sara Hitzeman to take pictures of our dogs.    What club can beat all that.

PASA held one ring event. The number of classes each day was 6, 2 of each.  So that gave us 4 runs of each class for the weekend.  Sue Graham was our judge for the weekend.  Besides being fun, her courses gave you some things to think about to improve.

February 26/27, 2022

The first agility trial of the 2022 year.  COVID has faded a bit.   Masks outside were voluntary, except for un-vaccinated people.

The trial was held at Thorson's Arena near Morgan Hill, CA.  It is one of our favorite places because of being covered, with lots of room and near the Bay Area.  PASA also held two obedience trials on Saturday and two rally trials on Sunday.  The weather was perfect but a bit chilly.  Saturday morning produced a layer of ice in dog watering bowls.
PASA held a one ring event. We upped the number of classes to 6 each day.  So that gave us four runs of each class for the weekend.  Lou Brannick from Phoenix, Arizona was our judge.   This was her 2nd judging assignment and she met the test.  Nice flowing courses with enough challenge to make you pay attention..
