February 19/20: VIPAWZ, San Martin, CA

August 6/7 : Manzanita Park, Prunedale,  CA
November 19/20 :

November 19/20

Our last trial of the year was held at VIPAWZ in San Martin, CA.  Darryl Warren from Wind Gap, PA was our judge.  Darryl is one of our favorite judges.  He has nice courses with challenges that make one think without being awkward.  We were glad to be under cover this weekend since there was periods of rain, damp and cold mixed with some California sunshine.

Trial committee members were:
Chair/Grounds: Jean Danver
Awards: Arnita Bowman
Secretary: Dave Connet
Chief Course Builder: Susan Laursen
Chief Ring Steward: Maralise Howze
Hospitality: Mona Nichols
Chief Scorekeeper: Marcia Hodes/Maggie Guthrie
Equipment Transportation: Jenny Hutchinson

The trial had five classes each day.     We had "NQ" raffles on Saturday and Sunday.  The special event at this trial was the awarding of the 2011 Silver Buckle winners.  To win a Silver Buckle is quite an accomplishment and this year the competition went down to the last day of competition.  Dogs who won consistently Qed in at least three of our trials over the 2011 season.

This year's Silver Buckle winners are:

Novice: K.D. an Australian Shepherd owned by William & Marlene Gorden
Open:  Moxie, an Australian Shepherd owned by Sara McAulay
Elite: Ranger, an all American owned by Neva Perrotta
Veteran:  Haylie, an Australian Shepherd owned by Sandi Gaspar

2011 Final Silver Buckle Standings

Note that only dogs with a regular Q are listed.  There may be differences in HIT winners because the rules of which class a dog is in differs and how yps is calculated differs.  For Silver Buckle, dogs are in the group that corresponds to their first regular Q of the year and yps is the average of their regular runs only.  HIT group  is last regular entered of the trial and yps also includes jumpers.

August 6/7

Our 3rd trial of the year was held at Manzanita Park in Prunedale, CA.  In the past this has been one of our smaller trials, but not this year.  Perhaps because of Nationals being in California in 2012 we were filled to overflowing with around 450 runs a day.  Ric Pitman was our judge.  And in spite of the crowd he kept things upbeat both days.  The weather helped, it was actually cool and cloudy almost the entire time with even a light foggy drizzle in the early morning.

Trial committee was:
Chair/Grounds: Karen Pratt/Donna Highstreet
Awards: Arnita Bowman
Secretary: Dave Connet
Chief Course Builder: Susan Laursen
Chief Ring Steward: Maralise Howze
Hospitality: Mona Nichols
Chief Scorekeeper: Marcia Hodes/Maggie Guthrie
Equipment Transportation: Donna Highstreet

The trial had five classes each day.     We had "NQ" raffles on Saturday and Sunday.  A special event for this trial was a Pot Luck on Saturday night.  PASA provided grilled sausages and tableware and attendees brought a dish to share.   It was a nice event with really good food.

It was a big weekend for ATCH winners.  Four dogs earned an ATCH.   Chaps, an Australian Shepherd handled by Jean Danver, earned his ATCH-VI on the 2nd regular run on Saturday.   There were two ATCH winners on the last regular run of the trial.   Ranger, an Australian Cattle dog handled by  Neva Perrota  earned his ATCH and Tie, an Australian Shepherd handled by Diana Land earned his ATCH-II.  At the very end of the day on Sunday a fourth dog ran around in celebration.  If that was you, please let me know.  Judge Ric Pitman enjoyed posing with the ATCH earners.

April 2/3

Our 2nd agility trial of the year was held at the Stanislaus Fair Grounds in Turlock, CA.  This has become an annual event held with the Delta ASC Club of Central Valley, CA and is almost always filled to capacity.     This time was no exception.    This was a one ring event.    Joyce Roessner, from Calgary, Alberta was our judge.  She got to escape the "white" scenery of Alberta for a
few days.  Joyce provided us with some really fun course, and we hope she will
come back and visit us again!

February 19/20

This was the first trial of the 2011 season and were we glad it was held under cover in the VIPAWZ arena in San Martin.  On Saturday, we were treated to very cold temperatures, which resulted in snow flurries!   Yes there were some flakes of the stuff.  Competitors got to see all snow on all the sourrounding hills.  It was pretty cold and we were glad to be under cover. The cool temperatures seemed to give all the dogs extra 'zing' in their runs.   Sunday was much more like California. The weather was much warmer (well, no snow & sleet).

PASA held a two ring one ring event.    Scott Lovelis was our judge.  He definately contributed to everyone having a good time.  His courses were challenging and a lot of fun.  Everyone pitched in to help break down the regular ring before moving to Jumpers for the final 3 runs of the day.  We finished the trial & had everything loaded on the trailer by about 6pm

Trial committee was:

Secretary: Dave Connet

The trial had five classes each day.     We had "NQ" raffles on Saturday and Sunday .

The biggest cause for celebration was Maralise Howze and her dog, Jemima earning their ATCH on Sunday morning on the gamble.
